As the oil and gas industry enters a new era, what will you be doing?
Price crashes and ‘disruptive’ technologies have had a major impact on industry jobs in recent times but with oil and gas forecast to dominate global energy supplies for another half century at least, the industry needs skilled workers to deliver the full value of company portfolios. Lay-offs and ‘crew-changes’ may well be a thing of the past by the time the we move into the Twenties and the predicted supply side issues force up the price of a barrel of oil.
Computers, artificial intelligence and machine based learning bring many benefits and many challenges to a dwindling work force.
When the anticipated rise in oil prices comes where will you be? What will you be doing?
Maybe you are one of the many ‘displaced’ workers looking for new opportunities within the industry or maybe you spent the last couple of years codifying your workflows and see your current role as at ‘risk’? Maybe you are considering retraining or maybe are you are coming to the industry for the first time, after years of tertiary education and with your CV packed full of the latest and greatest ideas?
Whatever your situation now would seem to be a good time to consider your future employment opportunities.
