Tremendous Interest for Deep Sea Minerals

As many metals may be in critical demand in only a few years due to increased electrification, key aspects of deep sea exploration and mining are to be discussed in Bergen today and tomorrow.

Almost 200 delegates have signed up for NCS Exploration – Deep Sea Minerals 2021 that begins this morning, the majority being present in person, while some few have selected a “digital presence”.

Through our webapp all of them can, however, take part in the intereaction with comments and questions.

There are three ways we can extract metals:

  • Land-based mining
  • Recirculation, and
  • Deep-sea mining

This conference is about deep-sea minerals, and there are at least three different aspects that need to be discussed:

  • Potential resources
  • Necessary technology, and – not the least –
  • Environmental challenges

The good news is that this conference will touch upon all three of them, and – moreover – that we have been able to gather some of the world’s leading experts.

The latter is due do a very efficient programme committee, without them, this conference would never have happened.

For those of you who have not yet registered, it is still possible through this link.
