Shaping the future

While the industry downturn resulted in a survival mode for many companies, this is now about to change as the oil industry has largely recovered.

“Now is the time to put technology back on the agenda and revisit how it can play a key role in shaping a sustainable future for the industry and society,” says Sverre Strandenes, recently retired Executive Vice President with PGS.

“The oil& gas industry has experienced one of its most severe downturns the recent years. During this period, companies operated in survival mode at the expense of smart use of technology to create value and reduce cost,” the geophysicist claims.

“This is about to change,” Strandenes says while he looks forward to the upcoming exploration technology conference in Fornebu, Oslo, in May.

“The NCS Exploration 2019 conference theme Recent Advances in Exploration Technology is very timely in this respect, and a number of industry experts will provide attendants full status and updates on the most recent advances and uses of exploration technology.”

“Clearly the place to be this spring for oil companies and service companies engaged in exploration,” Sverre Strandenes emphasizes.
