Only traces of gas in Balcom

Wellesley Petroleum is finishing the drilling operations on the Balcom prospect in the Norwegian North Sea. The well is dry.

The Eocene Frigg Formation was the target of exploration well 25/1-13 in PL 871. The well encountered a 50m thick Frigg Formation of which 10m sandstones of good reservoir quality. The underlying upper part of the Balder Formation was 40m thick with 20m sandstones with good to very good reservoir properties. Both sandstone intervals are water-wet with only traces of gas in the Frigg Formation.
