Wellesley completes dry well 36/1-4 in Norwegian Northern North Sea.

In the far north-eastern corner of the Norwegian North Sea, Wellesley and partner Petoro (20%) have finalised drilling the 36/1-4 exploration well targeting the Middle Jurassic Krossfjord Fm Hemispheres prospect.

According to the NDP press-release, the well encountered water-wet Krossfjord sandstone of what is believed to be a 33 m thick interval. However, traces of petroleum were found, suggesting a working petroleum system nearby.

The news follows on from the positive results Wellesley published earlier this month when the Toppand discovery was announced. Wellesley has a 50% stake in the discovery, which was operated by Equinor.
