‘These cut and polished ammonites are mostly Cleoniceras cleon, but there are also some Phylloceras and Douvilleiceras. Once hollow chambers have been filled in by a mixture of honey-coloured calcite crystals, brown and green sediment and some red polishing grit. Individuals vary and sometimes the chambers will be a colourful mixture, sometimes an appealingly uniform pattern. Either way, these are very popular for a reason – they look fantastic. Approx. 14cm.’
The specimen available for you to win from GEO ExPro is from the Cretaceous Period, 110 million years old.
We look forward to seeing you in Houston, Booth #1718.
