ConocoPhillips and PGNiG win Exploration Innovation Prize 2022

Winners were announced during NCS Exploration - Recent Discoveries Conference yesterday by Arne Jacobsen from NPD.

Based on a vote from the conference participants and an in-depth conversation amongst the members of the committee, the winner of this year’s Exploration Innovation Prize was announced during yesterday’s conference dinner: ConocoPhillips’ and PGNiG’s Warka discovery.

As a quick reminder, the candidates were the Rolvsnes fractured basement Extended Well Test performed by Lundin, the King/Prince discovery made by Vår Energi and the Warka discovery by ConocoPhillips and PGNiG .

All three presentations clearly demonstrated why these projects were shortlisted from a list of 11 initial candidates; Rolvsnes for the boldness to test a challenging reservoir with a long horizontal well, Warka for the courage to get a new and deeply buried prospect drilled and King/Prince for proving that valuable barrels exist even in one of the most mature areas of the NCS.

The winner clearly showed that all the required data were collected and used prior to embarking on the opportunity, whilst never giving up on the desire to test the prospectivity of the Cretaceous reservoir that was generally considered a risky one.

Also, the presentation delivered was thought to be of high quality.

Congratulations to both PGNiG and ConocoPhillips!
