Shining new light on an old basin – revisiting and revitalising the regional geology of the Norwegian Continental Shelf
Presenter: Ian Sharp, Equinor
Whilst exploration activity in the UK North Sea has been very low over the past few years, the Norwegians have shown the contrary, with many wells drilled per year. It is thanks to this drilling activity and the acquisition of new seismic data that the understanding of sedimentary systems such as the Brent has evolved from the classic picture that existed twenty years ago. During this talk, Ian Sharp from Equinor will explain how integrating new subsurface data, supplemented by UK-Greenland outcrop information, has updated the company’s regional insight, enabling the identification of new exploration sweet spots.
As always, Westwood Global Energy Group brings you the latest updates on North Sea drilling activity.
