In a press release of today, Wintershall DEA and Gazprom announce that their joint venture, Wintershall Noordzee B.V, has started gas production from the Sillimanite field discovered in 2015 with the D12-B-01 wildcat, operated from the Dutch side.
The field is located on the border between the UK and the Dutch Continental Shelf areas and will be produced from the D12-B facility, which uses a topside recycled for the second time from the recently decommissioned E18-A platform, formerly P14-A topside.
The Sillimanite field produces from the siliciclastic Carboniferous Ketch Formation with the Base Permian Unconformity providing a structural seal. General production issues in these reservoirs are halite scaling and reservoir water production. The field is to some extent comparable to the company’s neighbour fields Wingate (UKCS) and D12-A (NLCS), according to a spokesperson from Wintershall Noordzee.
