Well 6706/6-2S drilled by Wintershall in PL 847 is the most northern well in the Hel graben in the Norwegian Sea, very close to Hvitveis, a minor discovery and 60km north of Aasta Hansteen. Partners in the license are Wintershall (40% and operator), Repsol and OMV (both 20%) and Dyas and Equinor (both 10%).

The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in two reservoir levels in the upper Cretaceous (the Nise formation). The well encountered both the sandstone reservoirs in the Nise formation. The upper reservoir is about 230 meters thick, with effective reservoir of 175 metres with moderate reservoir properties. The lower reservoir is about 180 metres thick with effective reservoir of 175 metres with poor reservoir properties. There were traces of gas in both reservoirs but the well is classified as dry.
