The wildcat 25/7-9 S targeting the Hasselbaink prospect turned out dry, according to a press release from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Eocene injectite reservoir rocks of the Hordaland Group.
The well encountered two thin sandstone layers of about one metre in the Hordaland Group, with very good reservoir properties and traces of petroleum.
Operator ConocoPhillips has targeted several prospects in the Balder/Ringhorne area recently, the last wildcat, the 25/7-8 S (Enniberg) in the same license proved hydrocarbons last month. Partners in the PL 917 are Lundin, Suncor and Vår Energi.
Last year, ConocoPhillips made a discovery in PL 782 S to the NW of Hasselbaink with the wildcat 25/7-7 (Busta).
The Hasselbaink well terminated in the Late Palaeocene Sele Formation.
