Well 7120/1-3 Gohta was drilled in 2013 by Lundin and confiremd as a discovery on the SW corner of the Loppa High in the Barents Sea.
The well discovered a 34 m gas column and a 75 m oil column in Upper Permian carbonates of the Røye Fm (OWC at 2389 m). A DST in the Røye Fm produced 683 Sm3 (4300 bbls) of oil and 220000 Sm3 (7.8 Mcf) of gas per day. The discovery was later confirmed by appraisal well 7120/1-4. According to NPD, the Gohta discovery has recoverable volumes of 100 MMboe, of which half is oil.

– Oil samples from Gohta were analysed using several techniques, such as GC, GC MS, carbon isotopes, and we found that the oil is not biodegraded and that it is also low in asphaltenes and sulphur, says Jon Halvard Pedersen of Lundin Norway.
Pedersen also says that geochemical information (eg. biomarkers and isotopes) points to a Palaeozoic source rock, and then a new member of the Barents Sea oil families.
